Underground Utilities Investigation - PA

A client was looking to trench approximately 300 feet long x 2 feet wide x 3 feet deep. The purpose of this trench was to install new underground conduits to feed the communication lines through. The client knew there were multiple utilities in their proposed trench line, however they did not know exactly where or what depth they were at. Since this location was an active gas station in Lancaster, PA there were more utilities than normal, as well as the underground storage tanks (UST’s) on site. The client did not want to risk hitting any of these utilities due to the cost of fixing them, as well as the risk of injury that may occur. They called Ground Penetrating Radar Systems to come out and locate all utilities and UST’s in their proposed trench line. Sam Hart, who is based out of the Harrisburg office and covers the mid-state, was able to come out and complete the job the very next day. Sam located the gas line, 2 water lines, electric lines, irrigation lines, storm drain, multiple UST’s, sewer line, and an empty conduit. Upon location, he painted and flagged the utilities with their depths.
