Post-tension Cable Locating – Columbus, OH

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems was recently called by a local contractor to a new building project in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The contractor needed to core drill through the slab to install new drain and electrical lines. This addition was not planned, and therefore no sleeves were added to post-tension cable slab prior to pouring the slab. Striking a PT cable during drilling can be expensive to repair and dangerous for the contractors on site. GPRS was called to mark out any reinforcing steel and post-tension cables in the slab so the contractor could safely core drill through the slab. The contractor had to move some of the locations of their cores due to the presence of PT cables. GPRS was able to find safe places for the contractor to core, and keep the project on schedule. GPRS was able to get to the job in a timely matter so the project could remain on schedule. GPR is an accurate and effective way of locating conduits, rebar, and post tension cables in a concrete slab.
