GPRS Identifies Private Utilities prior to Trenching and Excavation Operations - Babson Park, MA

A General Contractor had a project consisting of locating utilities on private property at a college campus prior to conducting excavation and trenching operations in Babson Park, MA. The scope of the project was to locate and identify any suspected utilities or other obstructions in the area due to being located on private property and also due to dated and possibly inaccurate record keeping. The Contractor decided to contact Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Massachusetts after previously working with us on several large-scale projects. GPRS was able to complete the investigation within 1 day and allowed the project to proceed without hitting a single utility line while also identifying previously unknown and unmarked electric and communication lines. The field technician was able to locate and annotate the depth of multiple previously unknown utilities as well as identify the correct location of all known utilities in the area. Through the use of real time applications and an experienced technician GPRS was able to locate all of the utilities, and give the client an up to date and precise layout of what lies below.

At the job site, GPRS scanned multiple designated trenching and excavation areas identified by onsite personnel and all utilities were mapped on the surface with marking paint/pin flags and given a depth to ensure precision. The General Contractor now had the information needed to proceed with the project without causing any delay in business. The General Contractor was enamored with the quality of work that was performed and the timely, efficient manner in which it was done.
